She became a partner at Tierney Stauffer LLP in 2007 and Managing Partner in 2018. Susan has been recognized in The Best Lawyers in Canada™ since 2013 and was named “Lawyer of the Year” by Best Lawyers® in 2022 for Personal Injury Litigation.

Mary Jane Binks, KC, is Senior Group Counsel in the Family Law Group at Tierney Stauffer LLP and also practices estate litigation. She has been recognized by The Best Lawyers in Canada™ since 2006. Mary Jane has appeared before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice and Court of Appeal, serves as a family law arbitrator, and has taught and presented extensively through the Law Society of Ontario, Carleton University, and continuing legal education programs across the province.
Mary Jane was appointed Queen’s Counsel, now King’s Counsel, in 1982. Her honours include recognition as The Advocates’ Society’s 2016 Ottawa Honouree and receipt of the 2018 Carleton Medal. She is also deeply involved in Ottawa’s legal and broader community, including through leadership roles with the County of Carleton Law Association and Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind.
Dana P. Tierney: Recognized for Labour and Employment Law, Personal Injury Litigation
Dana P. Tierney has provided litigation services since joining Tierney Stauffer LLP as a partner in 1986. With more than 35 years of experience in mediation, arbitration, trials, and appeals, he has represented individuals, businesses, financial institutions, corporations, and professionals across a broad range of commercial disputes. As leader of the firm’s commercial litigation and employment law group, his work has included construction, shareholder and partnership, employment, commercial leasing, fraud, insolvency, professional liability, and related matters.
Dana later expanded his practice to include personal injury litigation, representing plaintiffs in wrongful death and serious injury claims involving motor vehicle accidents, brain and spinal injuries, occupiers’ liability, product liability, and medical malpractice. A member of the Ottawa Construction Association and the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association, Dana has lectured on numerous legal topics and remains actively involved in charitable initiatives supporting St. Patrick’s Home Foundation, Ride for Dad, and the Brain Injury Association of the Ottawa Valley.
Lesly Joseph: Recognized for Insurance Law, Personal Injury Litigation
Lesly Joseph joined Tierney Stauffer LLP as an articling student in 2007, became an associate after her call to the Ontario Bar in 2008, and was admitted to the partnership in 2016. She practices personal injury and insurance litigation, with a focus on motor vehicle accidents, slip-and-fall claims, medical malpractice, disability claims, and contract disputes.
Lesly has appeared before the Ontario Court of Appeal, the Superior Court of Justice, the Human Rights Tribunal, and the CPP Review Tribunal. She serves on the boards of Vista Centre Brain Injury Services and the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association and previously served on the Ottawa Mission’s Board of Directors. Her community involvement also includes volunteering with REACH Canada, Ottawa Lawyers Feed the Hungry, and Law Help Ontario.
Danielle Bartlett Named in Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch in Canada™ for Personal Injury Litigation
Danielle Barlett has been recognized in the 2027 edition of Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch in Canada™ for her work in Personal Injury Litigation. She joined Tierney Stauffer LLP in January 2024 as an associate in the civil litigation practice group. She practises estate litigation and personal injury law, with a focus on motor vehicle accidents, slip-and-fall claims, medical malpractice, disability claims, and sexual assault matters.
Danielle has represented individuals affected by serious accidents and injuries and has appeared before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice and several administrative tribunals, including the Licence Appeal Tribunal, Social Benefits Tribunal, and Social Security Tribunal. She has also presented at the County of Carleton Law Association’s Annual Civil Litigation Conference, served on its External Relations Committee, and acted as a mentor to articling students.
