Kaitlin Brennan, Associate
I was recently hired as Tierney Stauffer LLP’s newest litigation associate. I currently practice in the areas of Personal Injury, Construction Law, Corporate Commercial Litigation, Employment and Contract Litigation. I joined the firm in 2017 as a first-year summer student, returning for a second summer in 2018, and completed my articles in 2020.
From my first summer at the firm in 2017, I knew Tierney Stauffer LLP was the right fit for me. We have always maintained a close-knit team of lawyers and staff, and rarely a day goes by without breaking into serious belly-laughs in the hallway. That positive attitude translates into the firm’s values on customer service, providing professional and friendly service to all clients.
Advocacy has always been my favourite part of the job. Before commencing law school, I obtained an undergraduate degree in Theatre and English, which has helped me immensely with maintaining confidence and presence in court. Within my area of practice, I have had the opportunity to advocate for my clients through various forums, including Superior Court, Small Claims Court, the Human Rights Tribunal, the Landlord and Tenant Board, and the Social Security Tribunal, among others.
While I thoroughly enjoy the process from preparation to attendance in court, I also strive to come to reasonable and practical solutions without resorting to a court proceeding. First and foremost, I believe that listening to my clients’ needs and helping them obtain the best possible resolution is what cultivates strong professional relationships, both for myself and for the firm. When I am not in the office, you will likely find me teaching spin classes at a local boutique spin studio in Ottawa or seeking out the next best camping spot. My best memories will continue to be portaging in Algonquin Park, completely disconnected, amongst friends.
