Teena Belland, Senior Litigation Associate
I am a senior litigation associate at Tierney Stauffer LLP. I knew from a very young age that I wanted to be a lawyer. I wanted to try to help people navigate the difficult and complex legal system. At the time, I didn’t know which area of law I wanted to practice, but I knew that I wanted to work in a place where I would be more than just a number.
In 2006, I decided to join Tierney Stauffer LLP. I was impressed with the family atmosphere of the firm and their commitment to their clients. I enjoy helping our clients and working with them to help them through a difficult and complicated process. I also enjoy mentoring and working with the younger lawyers in our office.
In my off time, I enjoy reading a good romantic thriller. My favourite TV shows are the Curse of Oak Island and the Blacklist. A movie that I have seen many times is the Blindside with Sandra Bullock. I also enjoy listening to country music and my favourite singer is Kane Browne. My favourite pastimes include going to the cottage, boating and fishing in the summer with my family. In the winter, I enjoy snowmobiling, ice fishing and skating. And a restaurant that I really enjoy is Edoko Japanese Steak House in downtown Ottawa.
In my prior life – before University – I was a competitive synchronized swimmer for many years. I still enjoy watching the sport at the Olympics. Right now life and vacations are focused on family, since my son Ashton is only six. However, I would love to travel to Italy or Greece at some point in the future.
