Stephen G. Tierney, Partner and Founder

I am one of the founding partners of Tierney Stauffer LLP. I graduated from the University of Ottawa Law School in 1978 and started practicing law upon my Call to the Bar in 1980. In 1982, I opened an office as a sole practitioner, where I was quickly joined by my brother Frank, followed in rapid succession by my other brother Dana, and then our friend and colleague Ian Stauffer.  Together, we formed the firm as it is known today. I am currently the senior lawyer in the corporate and commercial real estate law groups.

For nearly forty years, I have served the business legal needs of my clients, providing experienced advice on business and real estate transactions, including sales, acquisitions, and financing. My practice centres on work for business clients, and financial institutions. This includes the sale, purchase, and financing of commercial, industrial properties, development and corporate work for clients.

My goal when acting for business clients is to get the transaction completed in an effective and cost-efficient fashion. Many of my clients have been with me throughout my legal career and have grown their businesses with great success, utilizing my trusted advice.

I was the Managing Partner of Tierney Stauffer LLP for many years and was instrumental in building the firm from one lawyer to its current size. I am a member of the Carleton County Law Association Real Estate Committee and have served over the years on administrative tribunals for local governments.

In my free time, I enjoy golfing, hiking and spending time with my family which has grown to include seven young grandchildren.
