JAMES LEAL
Ottawa Commercial Real Estate and Business Law Lawyer
James Leal is Senior Counsel in the Ottawa Law Firm of Tierney Stauffer LLP. Called to the Bar in 1984, James is a graduate of Queen’s University Faculty of Law. James’ practice focuses on commercial leasing, commercial real estate, business law and Wills and Estates. He acts for both developers and institutional real estate clients, and he has extensive involvement in real estate – related litigation matters, including expropriation, arbitration, and appraisal matters. He also acts as counsel for numerous national associations, as well as local not-for-profits, and other organizations. James has lectured for the Law Society of Ontario in the areas of business law, real estate law, legal writing, and legal ethics. He has also spoken to the continuing education faculty at Algonquin College on corporate law, and on legal ethics to the University of Ottawa, Faculty of Law. James is a past President of the Carleton County Law Association and past Co-Chair of the Joint Committee on Electronic Registration of Title Documents for the Province of Ontario.
