Lesly Joseph, Partner

For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to be a lawyer. While my understanding of what that involved has changed over the years, being an advocate for those in need is something I have always been passionate about. 

I was born in Toronto and was raised in the greater Toronto area. After completing my undergraduate degree at the University of Toronto, I moved to Windsor to attend law school. I was drawn to the University of Windsor’s Faculty of Law because of its focus on access to justice and helping those in need. My work at Tierney Stauffer LLP allows to me advance this objective.

In 2007, I moved to Ottawa and joined Tierney Stauffer LLP as an articling student. After being called to the Ontario Bar in 2008, I started practising as a lawyer in all areas of litigation. In 2016, I became a Partner at Tierney Stauffer.  My practice is now focused on the areas of disability claims, personal injury, medical malpractice and sexual abuse claims. 

I am extremely fortunate to be able to practice in areas of law that I am passionate about and that allows me to help people through some of the most difficult and challenging times in their lives. Much of my work is done on a contingency basis without regard for a person’s financial means. Being a part of the team at Tierney Stauffer LLP lets us take on meritorious files and help those in need. I am proud to be a part of a firm that has a long-standing positive reputation in Ottawa and surrounding areas.  

I was completely new to Ottawa when I moved here many years ago. Since then, I have had a chance to explore and enjoy what Ottawa has to offer. I still enjoy exploring different parts of the City as well as visiting the many museums and restaurants in Ottawa and surrounding areas. I have been fortunate to be involved within the Ottawa community as a volunteer with REACH Canada and Pro Bono Lawyers Ontario, as well as by serving meals at the Ottawa Mission through Lawyers Feed the Hungry. I currently sit on the Board of Directors for the Vista Centre Brain Injury Services. 

I am an avid reader and always looking for suggestions on new books and genres. My friends and family are spread wide and I am often on the road to visit them when time permits. I’ve visited different regions of the world and hope to do more travelling soon.
