Kevin Butler, Associate
I recently joined Tierney Stauffer LLP in February 2021 and am an Associate with the litigation group. I am very excited to be here! I have over twenty years of litigation experience in corporate/commercial, employment, estates, construction, personal injury, disability and insurance cases.
What I like most about my job is the opportunity it has given me to get to know people from different walks of life and to learn about their background, culture and work or business. I always find that I end up learning something new.
Litigation is daunting and often frightening to the uninitiated. I enjoy demystifying litigation for my clients and being able to provide them with reassurance that they will be taken care of. I especially enjoy working on complicated and challenging cases. I fancy myself as a bit of a sleuth and problem solver.
In my spare time, you may run into me at Goodlife, if you happen to be there around 11:00 p.m. This seems to be the only time slot available since the onset of Covid.
In the recent past, I was an avid runner but I have been sidelined by chronic achilles tendonitis. Once upon a time, I was also a martial arts enthusiast having studied Tae Kwon Do and Hapkido for several years but alas, this too came to pass as a result of injury. I am reminded almost every day of my advancing age and atrophying body. My wife likes to remind me that I may be the only black belt in Ottawa who can’t bend over and touch his toes.
The most important thing to know about me is I am a football fanatic. I follow the American and Canadian game but prefer the former. Still, I almost never miss a Red Blacks game. Up until last year, I made it a point every year to attend a different NFL venue. I have been to many stadiums south of the border and look forward to returning. Like most Canadians, I wait patiently in hopes that the border will open up by next football season so that I may see Drew Brees before he retires.
